They were on opposite teams but both Rich Thompson and Clayton Tanner threw quality innings in a 16 inning marathon that Rich’s River Cats won 6-3 over Clayton’s Fresno Grizzlies. Fellow Aussie Luke Hughes had one pinch at bat and struck out in the 16th for the River Cats.

Rich threw 2 scoreless innings striking out 3 with 0 hits whilst Clayton threw 3 scoreless innings striking out 2 whilst walking 1.

It was Clayton’s first outing since being re-signed by the Giants.

Meanwhile Ryan Rowland-Smith also produced a quality outing – for the Iowa Cubs. He threw 4 innings for 3 hits, 1 run, 4BB, 3K in relief.

Clayton Tanner – re-signs with Giants.

After being released by the Cincinnati Reds,  Clayton Tanner has been re-signed by the Giants and will report to AAA Fresno on Monday.

Clayton Tanner – Released

Clayton Tanner has been released by the Pensacola Blue Wahoos. Tanner was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the third round out of high school in 2006, but was released in late August of  last year from the Double-A Richmond Flying Squirrels. He was then immediately picked up by the Cincinnati Reds and signed a minor league contract with their Triple-A affiliate the Louisville Bats.

Assigned to AA, Clayton has not given up a run in his last 6 appearances – In fact he has give up only 3 in his last 10. Clayton’s ERA is 4.08 overall and has a 1-3 to his record.

UPDATE : De San Miguel – Goes 2-4 Beresford 2-3 – Tanner 7 strikeouts


Allan de San Miguel,Bowie Baysox,went 2-4 today scoring 1 and driving in 3 RBI.

Although off to a slow start his bat is warming up,currently his AVG .214.

James Beresford,New Britain Rock Cats is hitting .276 on the season. In his last 10 games James is hitting .303 scoring 2 runs and plating 4 RBI. Going 2-3 on the 6th.

 Clayton Tanner Pensacola Blue Wahoos  has an ERA of 4.50 on the season. In his last 10 games he has lowered is ERA to 3.60. In 10 innings of relief Clayton has 4 earned runs to his name and striking out 7.

No joy for Clayton

James Beresford hit an RBI single in the 4th and scored following a walk for New Britain Rock Cats but it was not enough to affect the score with the Cats going down 10-4 to the Reading Phillies.

It’s been a tough year so far for Clayton Tanner.

Today was no different when he collected his 3rd loss for the season for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.  After closing the 7th after coming on with 2 out he allowed a 2 out double to drive in a run in the 8th in what was a 3-3 tied ball game with Jacksonville.

Final score 4-3.

Clayton’s record is now 0-3.

James Beresford

James Beresford was 1-4 today in the New Britain Rock Cats‘ 5-2 win over the Reading Phillies.  Although he has been a little quiet of late James is hitting .258 for the season.

After waiting out another rain delay, this one only 25 minutes, the Pensacola Blue Wahoos came away with a 2-1 win over the Jacksonville Suns with Clayton Tanner picking up his 6th Hold by closing out the 6th inning for the starter Tim Gustafson by striking out the 1 hitter he faced.   His ERA is 4.76.

Andrew Russell

James Beresford was 0-3 for the New Britain Rock Cats.   He is hitting .258 for the season.

Mathew Kennelly went 0-2 off the bench for the Mississippi Braves in their 3-2 loss to the Tennessee Smokies whilst Andrew Russell threw a scoreless 7th with 2 Ks.   He has held the opposition scoreless in 7 of his last 10 games and has a season ERA of 2.45.

Pensacola Blue Wahoos lost 8-5 to the Jacksonville Suns on a 3RBI walk off home run in the bottom 9 today.  Clayton Tanner  relieved the starter in the 5th after he walked the 1st 2 batters.  Clayton gave up a walk and a double to allow 2 runs to score before being relieved with 2 out.   His line was .2INN, 1H, 1BB, 0R, 1K.

Both Kennellys went 1-3 with a run for their respective teams today

Tim Kennelly went 1-3 and scored the Reading Phillies‘ only run in their 2-1 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs.  Tim is hitting .225 for the season.   Drew Naylor is due to start for the R-Phils tomorrow.

Tim’s brother Mathew also went 1-3  and also scored a run but for the Mississippi Braves in their 6-0 win of the nightcap of a double header which they split with the Huntsville Stars.

Clayton Tanner threw his 2nd scoreless inning in a week for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos when he faced the minimum 3 batters in the 8th in the Wahoos’ 8-4 loss to Birmingham.

It’s good to see Hayden Beard getting back into form collecting his 2nd win in consecutive outings today for the San Antonio Missions.   Throwing 5 innings he gave up 2 runs on 8 hits including a home run, walked 1 and struck out 4 in a 3-2 win in 7 innings over Midland in the 1st of a double header.

Mathew Kennelly went 1-5 for the Mississippi Braves in their 9-6 victory over Hunstville.

Clayton Tanner threw a scoreless 9th for the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in their 6-4 loss to Pensacola.   His ERA is 5.40

Another scoreless inning for Andrew Russell

Following his 2-3 yesterday James Beresford went 1-3 with 1RBI today for the New Britain Rock Cats in their 5-1 win over Binghamton.

Tim Kennelly was 0-3 for the Reading Phillies in a 5-1 victory over Trenton.

Andrew Russell had a good outing today, throwing a scoreless 8th inning for the Mississippi Braves in their 5-3 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.   He came on holding a 5-3 lead and collected his 1st Hold.   On the other side Clayton Tanner had to wear the Wahoos’ loss having given up 2 runs without getting an out in the 7th after he relieved their starter who had walked the 1st hitter of the inning.  In a rare inning of poor control Clayton gave up a single, a wild pitch and a walk before being relieved.
