Pirates release Mitch Fienemann
We said the other day that this is the time of the year when clubs release players as they take stock of their rosters for the forthcoming season. Another Aussie has also been released with the Pirates parting ways with Adelaide RHP Mitch Fienemann. Mitch was signed by the Pirates in 2009.
He had previously been made an offer by the Red Sox but was injured and required labrum surgery before the contract was signed and the offer was withdrawn.
In 3 seasons with the Pirates he was used out of the pen and went W5-11 with a 3.73ERA. He spent 2010 and 2011 in Low A.
SHORT SEASON A – Aussie player suspended

The Pittsburgh Pirates have placed State College Spikes reliever Mitchell Fienemann on the suspended list.
Fienemann, 21, faces charges after he was found passed out outside a residence hall early Sunday morning and later lifted an auxiliary police officer up and spun her around. Fienemann was cited with public drunkenness, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Fienemann, who is from Lockleys Australia, is in his second season with the Spikes. Fienemann is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA and 10 strikeouts in 16 2/3 innings.
SHORT SEASON A – Mitch Fienemann, Boss Moanaroa, Moko Moanaroa
The Lowell Spinners were defeated 8-4 by Auburn and all 4 runs were produced by the Moanaroa brothers.
Moko Moanaroa came on as a pinch hitter in the 7th for the Lowell Spinners with the bases loaded and immediately doubled to drive in 3 runs. Brother Boss Moanaroa came to bat later in the inning with the bases once again loaded and got a walk which scored Moko to give him 1RBI. Quite a family affair.
Moko picked up another hit when he singled in the 9th to finish 2-2, with 3RBIs.
Mitchell Fienemann threw 1.1 scoreless innings for the State College Spikes who won 5-1 over the Brooklyn Cyclones. He was brought on in the 8th with 2 out to finish the inning and then continued to get the hitters in the 9th out in order to collect his 5th Save, bringing his ERA down to 3.86.
SHORT SEASON A – Cameron Lamb, Mitch Fienemann, Boss Moanaroa [HR]
Boss Moanaroa smashed his 5th home run today against Auburn with the Lowell Spinners winning 7-5. Boss finished the day 2-4, with 1R, 1HR, 2RBIs. He is hitting .309.
Starter Cameron Lamb took the loss today in the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes‘ 3-14 loss to Everett. He went 2.2 innings giving up 8 runs [4 earned] on 8 hits and 2 walks whilst striking out 2. He is now 2-4 and 4.58ERA.
Mitchell Fienemann threw a scoreless inning for the State College Spikes in their 4-8 loss to Brooklyn. Mitch came on in the 9th to finish the game. In his one inning he faced 5, gave up 2 hits but 0 runs and struck out 1. His ERA is 4.20.
SHORT SEASON A – Mitch Fienemann, Boss Moanaroa
Carlos Mesa hit a solo home run in the tenth inning to help the State College Spikes rebound from losing their lead in the ninth inning to defeat the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 5-4.
The Scrappers had tied the game in the tenth inning with a pair of runs off State College closer Mitchell Fienemann (1-2).
Mitch would come back to get the first out of the tenth inning, however, before giving way to Vince Payne (1). He allowed a total of two runs on three hits and two walks over 1.1 innings, but picked up his first win of the 2011 season.
Lowell Spinners‘ slugger Boss Moanaroa went 1-4 today with a triple [his 1st], scoring 1 run and getting 1RBI in their 6-2 win over Vermont today. Boss is having a good month with the bat hitting .368 in his last 10 games.

Mitchell Fienemann threw his 2nd scoreless inning in 2 games today.
He went 1 inning for 0H, 0R, 0BB getting the 3 outs in order in the 9th including 2 strikeouts to get his 4th Save for the State College Spikes.
Moko Moanaroa was 0-3 in the Lowell Spinners‘
3-7 loss to Williamsport.
He is batting .296.

Boss Moanaroa got his 3rd home run of the season when he went long in the Lowell Spinners‘ 4th with one on. However, in a record-breaking 3:39 minute game that saw home runs, umpire warnings and an ejection, a franchise record 14 walks by Spinners pitchers ended with the home team coming up short, 10-7,
Mitchell Fienemann had another scoreless inning today for the State College Spikes. He conceded a hit but no runs against Batavia when he was brought on in the 9th to close and so earned himself another Save [his 3rd] when the Spikes came from being 7-6 down to win 8-7.
SHORT SEASON A – Mitch Fienemann, Kable Hogben
Kable Hogben struck out all 3 hitters he faced to pick up his 1st save in the Yakima Bears 2-1 win over Boise yesterday.
Mitchell Fienemann had his 2nd loss today when the State College Spikes went down 5-9 to Auburn with Mitch giving up a 2 out grand slam in the 10th. Ouch!!
SHORT SEASON A – Mitch Fienemann, Boss Moanaroa
Mitchell Fienemann with the State College Spikes threw 3 innings in their 4-3 win over Mahoning Valley. He had 1H, 1R, 1BB, 1K in what was deemed a blown save although the team fought back to take the win. Mitch’s ERA is a miserly 1.04.
Boss Moanaroa was 0-3 in the Lowell Spinners 2-0 shout out of Tri City. Boss has a .250AVG.

Mitchell Fienemann contributed a scoreless inning for the State College Spikes in their 5-2 win over the Mahoning Valley. Brought on in the 9th he faced 4 hitters for 0H, 0R, 1BB, 0K keeping the Valley scoreless and so picking up his 2nd Save.
The Twins’ Boss Moanaroa went 0-3 for the Lowell Spinners in their 3-2 win over Tri City today.
