We did tell you that Cory Adamson’s (above) slow start was nothing to worry about, that he would soon start to make an impression at the plate. Well yesterday he went 1-4, scored a run and an RBI. Today he went even better going 2-4, including a double and scored twice, and so getting a hit in his last 4 games, too soon to call it a streak but heading in the right direction. So after 8 games he’s hitting .300.
Tim Atherton had his 2nd outing for Cedar Rapids today coming on in the 5th with the Rapids in the lead 7-0. Errors in the field behind him made it tough on Tim who finished his one inning giving up 4 hits and 4 runs, but none of them earned whilst Cedar Rapids held off Clinton to win 7-6.

Hopefully this year he will hit well enough to stay with the Tin Caps for the whole season. Last year he started with the Tin Caps but struggled at the plate hitting .111 (9-81) in 29 games before being sent back down to extended spring training and did not make it back to Fort Wayne. He played in 66 games with Short-Season A Eugene, hitting .240 with 1HR and 24RBI. He had a .327 on-base percentage and 15 stolen bases.

Ryan Searle came on in the 5th for Daytona with the bases loaded and one out. He did give up a double which allowed two runs to score (not his runs in the stats or course) but then retired the side with no further damage. He then went on threw 3 scoreless innings in what ended up being an 11th inning loss to Clearwater who scored 5 runs in their 11th to win 14-9.
We mentioned that Stefan Welch was struggling with the bat and the next day he broke his drought quite convincingly. We then commented on Corey Adamson’s lack of success at the plate – so today he went out and hit 2-4, scored 2 runs, got 1RBI and stole a base in Ft Wayne’s 9-7 loss to West Michigan. We hope that this is the start for the talented Corey.
