Buzachero sees the world in baseball career

by Craig Delk

Ten years ago, Bubbie Buzachero could have never imagined baseball would take him where he’s been.

The Livingston native and former Tennessee Tech righthanded pitcher was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 23rd round of the 2002 draft, and since then he’s gone on a whirlwind, literally worldwide experience that has taken him from Australia to Austria and everywhere in between.

Buzachero, 31, is currently pitching in Austria with the Kufstein Vikings, just months after playing in the Australian Baseball League with the Melbourne Aces and helping them advance to the ABL championship game.

With his 2012 international stops, Buzachero has now pitched all across the United States, Austria, Australia, Canada, Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico.

His U.S. experience has been a varied one, too, ranging from New York to Florida, New Hampshire to Ohio, and Texas to Nevada from rookie ball to Triple-A and the independent Atlantic League.

After an impressive stint with the Atlantic League’s Long Island Ducks — he ranked third in the league with 22 saves and helped them advance to the league championship series — Buzachero gained notoriety in Australia when he pitched eight innings of relief in Game 3 of the ABL championship series between the Aces and the Perth Heat.
