Andrew Russell – is he a Peter Moylan clone?

Another scoreless outing for Andrew Russell

Australian pitching legend Phil Dale seems to have repeated his successful signing of side-armer Peter Moylan with his signing last year of two way player Andrew Russell.

Since his promotion to AAA Andrew has been simply outstanding. Yesterday he extended to 8 the number of consecutive games in which he has not allowed an earned run. In only 1 game in that time has a run crossed the plate whilst he was on the mound and that was an unearned run on July 31st. Currently he has a 1.72ERA after 12 games and 15.2 innings.

Whilst Andrew achieved success as a two way player for the Aces the Braves signed him to pitch, clearly seeing many similarities with Peter. They are both side armers, a relative rarity in the game and they both throw hard.

Both are side-armers

That he is having such success so soon at the AAA level could well mean that Dale has pulled another winner out of the Aussie hat for the Braves.
