Brooks, George, Welch – hitters to watch
Stefan Welch – hopefully August will be kinder
Since being sent down a grade James Brooks, in his 4 games in August, is hitting .250. Today he punched out a triple in his 1-4 day scoring 1 run. He has 3RBI for the month.
Darryl George had a bit of a slump last month after a promising start back in June when in 36ABs he hit .389. In 64 ABs in July he dropped to .203 but seems to have picked things up somewhat this month. He’s hitting .350 on 20ABs.
Today he was 2-4 with a double, scoring a run and driving in 2 runs.
Another who started well but couldn’t maintain the pace is Stefan Welch who had an outstanding introduction to AA on his long overdue promotion in June. In his 1st month he hit .391 on 46ABs. This slumped to .243 in July (74ABs). So far this month he is hitting .263.
Pre the All Star break Stefan hit .371, post the All Star his AVG dropped to .217.
Today he was 2-4 with a double, 1R, 1RBI.
