WORLD CUP – James Beresford
James Beresford represented Victoria each year at the National Junior Championships. He was signed by the Minnesota Twins as a 16yr old in 2005 after he had competed in the U16′s and was attending the MLBAAP on the Gold Coast. He did not debut professionally until 2007 [after he had finished his schooling] hitting a .288/.349/.302 clip as the starting shortstop for the GCL Twins.
In the 2007 Claxton Shield he averaged .304 for Australian Provincial. He played again in the 2008 Claxton Shield and went 2 from 7.
In the 2008 minor league season, he batted .246/.345/.285 for the Elizabethton Twins. In 2009, he was named in the final Australian squad for the 2009 World Baseball Classic in March, and was again selected for the 2009 World Cup in September.
In 2009, he was named Beloit Snappers player of the year. He played for the Fort Myers Miracle in the Class A Advanced level for the Twins this season and had a .270 average with 37 RBIs.
He played for the Melbourne Aces in the 2010 inaugural season of the ABL hitting .404 in 12 games.
