Grant Balfour helps A’s beat Yankees
The A’s snapped an 11-game losing streak to the Yankees, using a solid start by Rich Harden and homers by Josh Willingham and Hideki Matsuito win 4-3. Grant Balfour came on in the 7th with Jeter on 2nd and 2 out. gave up a single to Mark Teixeira and then got Robinson Cano to fly out to center fielder Ryan Sweeney. He returned in the 8th and immediately put himself under pressure by walking Nick Swisher and giving a single to Russell Martin before retiring the side with a fly ball and a double play.
