Phillies sign Liam Bedford
Victorian catcher Liam Bedford has signed with the Phillies. Liam was a member of the VIC U18 team who competed in the AAA National Championships just completed but was signed by the Phillies Australian scout Nathan Davison at the beginning of the tournament.
The 17yr old plays for the Essendon Club in Melbourne and is a scholarship holder with the VIS having represented Victoria in Junior Championships. As a 12yr old he was also a member of the Australian team at the annual Cal Ripken World Series and was “Man of the Match” in the Grand Final.
He won’t be alone in the Phillies organisation – he will have Aussies Tim Kennelly,
Drew Naylor, Joel Naughton and Alan Schoenberger to give advice when he arrives next year.
